Finding the perfect wine took nearly a year and multiple tastings, resulting in a generous, full-bodied, and fruity wine that delivers on taste, quality, and price.
The beloved professor and wine enthusiast Leif GW Persson is expanding his wine portfolio with a highly anticipated new addition: GW’s Italian—an organic wine made from 100% Primitivo from Apulia, Italy. The wine offers a generous flavor experience with fruity notes for only 99 SEK.
“I have long been pleased to offer affordable and tasty wines from Portugal. But now, after four years, being able to do the same from Swedes’ favorite region, Italy, makes me very proud. Especially since it is a very good, versatile, and well-priced wine!” says Leif GW.
An Italian Tradition
The launch of GW’s Italian was quietly kicked off with a lunch at the classic neighborhood restaurant Capri Due in Stockholm. A place that not only radiates an authentic Italian atmosphere but is also one of Leif’s favorites, where he has enjoyed many Sunday dinners with his family over the years.
A Wine with Flavor and Character
GW’s Italian is a full-bodied and spicy wine with soft tannins and notes of dark berries like blackberries and plums, with hints of fresh herbs and a touch of vanilla. Its long finish makes it a versatile wine that pairs equally well with the Italian favorite spaghetti Bolognese, a simple cheese and charcuterie platter, or just as a social drink.
The wine is made from 100% Primitivo, more commonly known as Zinfandel in the USA, from Apulia—often called the “heel” of Italy. Here, the sunny climate and warm soil give the grapes a rich and fruity taste. As with previous products, the wine has been carefully selected by Leif and developed to complement both Swedes’ favorite Italian dishes and to stand on its own as a social drink. Finding a wine that met Leif’s high standards was a project that took nearly a year.
